Application:
Potable Water
Keywords:
California, potable, steel standpipe, ground storage steel, mixing, stratification, short circuiting, stagnation
Reservoir Size:
This is a steel ground storage tank of 3.0 MG.
SolarBee Installation:
Date: 9/12/2008 Installed one SB1250PWc Grid unit.
Project Objectives:
Objective: Provide complete mixing throughout the tank or reservoir to (1) pull water from the bottom of the tank (1-2 inches from the floor) and distribute to the water surface top continously 24 hours per day; (2) reduce stratification to less than 1.0 degree C from water surface top to bottom (18" inches above the floor) 85% of the time; (3) reduce short circuiting; (4) reduce stagnant water conditions; (4) provide complete circulation of a full tank or reservoir in less than two days. Also, by complete mixing, allow for representative sampling for total chlorine, free ammonia and nitrite monitoring; and if nitrification is present, provide the means via the fast response early boost (FREB) fluid intake assembly to inject sodium hypochlorite for trimming/tying up free ammonia, boosting residual or breakpoint chlorination.
Project Results:
These units have had a very positive impact on our water quality by greatly reducing/eliminating temperature stratification, improved mixing of disinfection additions, and reduced water age.
