When potable water systems experience high levels of trihalomethanes (THMs), mixing alone may not lower the THM concentration enough to comply with the 80 ug/L locational running average limit specified in the EPA Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule.
For these systems, SolarBee has developed effective and economical THM removal systems that work in conjunction with SolarBee mixing to strip THMs from potable water storage tanks and clearwells.
Spray Nozzle THM Removal System: Designed for small- to medium-sized tanks, the spray nozzle THM system provides a scalable, cost-effective solution to effectively remove all four types of regulated THMs. The pre-packaged, off-the-shelf spray nozzle THM removal system is customer or contractor installable; typically there is no need to enter or drain the tank for installation. Each 5 hp system requires 230VAC single-phase power. The modular design allows for multiple systems; total system design size will be dependent on tank inflow rate and THM concentration.
Diffused Aeration THM Removal System: The diffused aeration THM removal system effectively removes all four types of regulated THMs. Designed for medium- to large-sized tanks and clearwells, the system is modular and scalable to any tank size or THM concentration.
